Power generation
Recovered electrical power reduces the load on conventional onboard generation and its associated fuel-gas consumption.
Offshore gas & gas-condensate
Convert reservoir pressure energy and available waste heat into electrical power in gas and gas-condensate production, with power recovery and process cooling integrated into the facility.

The opportunity
High-pressure wellstreams carry substantial pressure energy into the facility. WEX²® recovers a significant part of this energy during pressure reduction. The turboexpander converts over 80% of the available gas expansion energy into shaft power while maintaining the required process conditions. The feed-gas heater transfers available waste heat into the gas before expansion, increasing electrical output.
How WEX²® worksRecovered electrical power reduces the load on conventional onboard generation and its associated fuel-gas consumption.
Integrate available waste heat upstream of the turboexpander to convert it into additional electrical power. Expansion cooling supports suitable downstream process duties.
Production decline, compressor operation and potential satellite tie-ins are assessed to identify configurations that remain useful as the asset evolves.
Project development
A project-specific assessment establishes recoverable power, process effects and the preferred integration concept.
Evaluate plateau, decline and planned tie-in flows against the equipment operating envelope.
Space, weight, tie-in locations, maintenance and shutdown planning form part of concept selection.
Pressure control, bypass, isolation and protection must fit the facility’s operating philosophy.
Delivery
For offshore projects, WEX²® can be integrated through the operator’s established development and procurement process. WellPower supports screening, concept selection and pre-FEED.
