Pressure-energy recovery
Turn the required gas-supply pressure reduction into useful electrical power before the gas reaches on-site generation.
Data centers
Recover energy from gas-pressure reduction at gas-powered data centers, generating electricity with expansion cooling that can contribute to the server park’s cooling loop.

The opportunity
WEX²® recovers a significant part of the pressure energy available where incoming gas is reduced to the pressure required by on-site generation. The turboexpander converts over 80% of the available gas expansion energy into shaft power. Electrical output can supply the facility, while expansion cooling can contribute to the server park’s cooling loop through a separate heat-exchange circuit.
How WEX²® worksTurn the required gas-supply pressure reduction into useful electrical power before the gas reaches on-site generation.
Assess recovered output alongside site demand, electrical infrastructure and the operating profile of the gas-fired generation.
Transfer available expansion cooling through a heat exchanger into the server park’s cooling loop, matched to its temperature and capacity requirements.
Project development
A project-specific assessment establishes recoverable power, process effects and the preferred integration concept.
Available flow, inlet pressure and the required delivery pressure determine the recovery opportunity.
The server park’s supply and return temperatures, cooling duty and process interfaces define the cooling-loop integration.
The retained pressure-control bypass and isolation arrangement support continued gas supply when WEX²® is isolated.
Delivery
Operator-owned integration or Energy-as-a-Service can be assessed around the data center’s gas supply, power demand and electrical interfaces. Equipment scope, site responsibilities and energy offtake are agreed for the project.
